Live the life you want to live
The first and most important relationship you’ll ever have throughout your life is your relationship with yourself. How you feel and care for your own mind, body and spirit sets the stage for all relationships outside of yourself — with your partner, family, friends, and colleagues. Psychologically, spiritually and practically, it’s obvious if you don’t like or love yourself, it can be difficult to give and receive love.
So, get real with yourself. Stop living the life you thought you’re supposed to live, or someone else’s version of what your happiness should be. You’re unique and have your own talents, qualities and desires. Listen to your heart and explore where it’s telling you to go. Decide how you want to feel in a relationship. Is it special? Safe and protected? Admired? Intellectually stimulated? Once you’re clear on the feelings you desire, be your own boyfriend or girlfriend. This means, for example, if you want to feel loved and cherished, think of ways to do this for yourself. Treat yourself… buy yourself flowers (or chocolate!), take a long bath, go to the gym, get out in nature, go to the beach etc. Do whatever it takes to feel really good about yourself and your life right now. When you’re already feeling those feelings it’s possible to attract the right partner for you.
When you look after yourself this leads to a sense of well-being. This means treating your body well by eating nourishing foods, exercising, getting good, quality sleep and drinking plenty of water every day. These are simple but effective ways of practicing self-care, increasing your own magnetic qualities to attract that special someone. And when you care for yourself you’ll be in a great frame of mind to be ready to care for your partner as well… when he or she shows up.
