- You’re in control.
- We all go in and out of hypnosis every day.
- You’re in a state of deep relaxation and heightened suggestibility.
Hypnosis can help with so many everyday issues; losing weight, fear of flying, passing exams, public speaking and quitting smoking. It’s one of the healthiest ways to transform your life. It doesn’t involve taking any meds, with their many side effects, or force yourself to go on a diet you know you can’t maintain, it’s about working with the subconscious mind to rid yourself of bad habits, or to change your habits, to help you become the best you can be, or the person you want to be. One of the biggest myths about being hypnotized is that somehow the hypnotherapist can get into your mind and control it… but how is that physically possible? A hypnotherapist makes positive suggestions, affirmations and visualizations while their client is in a deep state of relaxation. That’s it, no mind control here! I always ask my clients after their first session “Do you realise now that you were fully in control?” The answer is always a resounding YES.
Do you daydream? Can you focus on a movie or immerse yourself in a book? Do you ever miss your exit on the highway? Have you ever been so intensely focused on what you were doing that you weren’t aware someone was calling your name? If you can answer yes to any of these then you’ve been in a state of hypnosis. It’s something we all do every day… and we don’t even realise it. If you can focus intensely on something, then you’ve been hypnotized!
To sum up, hypnosis is a deep state of relaxation and a heightened state of suggestibility. When your mind and body are deeply relaxed, your conscious mind goes to the background allowing the subconscious mind to come to the forefront, and that’s when suggestions are made to help you overcome any issues, fears and habits.
